Gioia del Colle (BA)
Orto dalla Luna was born in spring 2021 at Borgo delle Tufare, near Gioia del Colle in the Murge of Puglia: Giovanni Sisto left Milan — and twenty years as a fresh-produce buyer for large-scale retail — to return to Puglia and become a farmer. His reference is his grandfather: an ultra-short supply chain, home deliveries, and deep roots in the territory. Production is certified organic and centred on recovered ancient varieties: colcidd' (the ancient Puglian curly kale), the Ponderosa tomato of Gioia del Colle, and a "space" variety selected with agronomist Sabino Radicci for its natural disease resistance and high antioxidant content.
Giovanni's signature is the cassetta poetica: a plastic-free wooden crate filled with that day's vegetables, a bouquet of aromatic herbs and wildflowers, and a postcard carrying a literary quote. The composition changes each week with what the land offers — no selection, only trust. A deliberate inversion of the retail logic Sisto worked within for years.
